How Karate Has Helped Me In My LIfe by Michael Mileski
Posted on 12-17-11 by Charles
Karate has improved my life by making me a more responsible and focused person. It helps me to have more control over my anger and keeps me from getting into fights. I was able to get help with a problem I had when someone my friend knew, held me in a choke hold. During class, Sensei Charles Falk demonstrated how to get out of a choke hold, knowing this would help me, but never let anyone know that I was the victim. That made me feel very good.
What Has Karate Taught Me by Jacob Bauldree
Posted on 12-17-2011 by Charles
Karate has taught me so much I don't know where to start. But what I guess is the most important thing that has to do with karate is not the moves, but the leadership and the respect you have for your teachers and everything around you. The main thing I think I have learned by doing karate is leadership. When I first started karate in 4th grade I had been doing it for a couple of weeks and then I went on a field trip to Haw River. When I was there, we had to do so many leadership activities and I didn't even notice I was leading my class half of the time until my teacher came up to me and said, "You are such a leader! Do you do Boy Scouts?" and I said, "No, I take karate."
A Point of Difference

I was reading and came across an old Chinese proverb: "Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand". This proverb sums up one of many distinctions you'll find at Innovative Martial Arts Academy from other martial arts schools and activities. We involve our students in community and character education. And most important, we teach our students the 'why' in our success traits.
Crime Happens Where The Good People Live
Posted on April 18, 2011 by Charles
A lot of people are misguided when they think about the neighborhoods they live in, where they work, where they play and thinking they are safe. Violent crime happens on the bad part of town, right? Yes, you will find violence in the bad parts of town, but it's on the rise in the nice neighborhoods too. Here is a link to a recent attack in North Raleigh area by a man from Wake Forest NC:

Aikido Imitates Life
Posted on 2/2/2011 by Charles
Aikido has more than one definition or meaning. One interpretation is the Way of Love. Another is the Way of Harmony. Still another is the Way of Harmonizing (going with the energy given). All of these describe aikido accurately and we find that if we apply our aikido training to life, life really does become more simplistic and less stressful.
